What is ACPA?
Community Collaboration
We at ACPA love Austin and value our community.
Our school and our students, as a key element of our learning process, engage the community, often. The bulk of our students’ original productions are staged within the community and at professional venues.
We teach our students how to perceive “gaps” in their respective community cultural offerings and teach them ways of filling those gaps, so as to create a niche and consequently increase their chances of making a living.
We teach our artists that the only way to become Necessary as an artist, is to serve in one’s community. This act of service is vital for artists, as their audience is comprised of groups within their community.

Many of our graduates will go on to assume leadership positions in the arts. We hope to inspire them to commit their creative entrepreneurial endeavors towards the good of their communities.
Individually, Art and Entrepreneurship are each vehicles for economic growth. Art brings money into our economy. In fact, for every dollar spent in a community theatre, four goes back into the community. Why? When people go out to the theatre, they often go out to restaurants and bars, too.
We need our community’s support in the building of ACPA. We hope to draw our teachers from within our city and to teach many of our local artists.
While in school, our artists will be actively participating in and contributing towards the Austin community and professional markets. Because our artists will be building their professional networks in the Austin areas and communities, we expect many graduates to stay in Austin, upon completion of their studies.
ACPA hopes to train and inspire a new generation of visionary artistic leaders. Having such leaders in our community, no doubt will bring great value.
We ask our community to contribute towards our social cause--teaching artists how to be more independent and financially self-sufficient, while simultaneously bringing value and economic growth towards our city and communities.
